Linda Cummings grew up in Chappaqua, NY and graduated from Skidmore College with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She and her husband, Dan, raised their three sons in the Chicago suburbs, Surry, England, and Virginia. Throughout her life she has been active with many volunteer activities and boards. She trained to be a catechist (teacher) in the Catechisis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori-based Christian formation program. The program she established is still running today. Through her involvement in the Episcopal Church, Linda became interested in philosophical theology. She took classes at Seabury Western Theological seminary and completed her master’s degree in Theological Studies. Her thesis was about the education of ontological desire through the gospel narrative and symbols.
Today, Linda and Dan reside in the Back Bay. She has studied to be a tour guide at Trinity Church and became active in The Memorial Church at Harvard, invited twice to give the homily at their morning prayer service. She’s drawn to the Boston Public Library after reading The Library Book by Susan Orlean, and after learning about the many programs the Library offers.
