Inspiring the next generation of civic leaders

promoting media literacy at Boston Public Library

In partnership with Boston Latin Academy and Generation Citizen, the BPL and WGBH hosted a group of eighth-graders who participated in a first-of-its-kind program focused on promoting media literacy. Students used the BPL’s archives to research topics ranging from gun violence to affordable housing, learned valuable tips for identifying unreliable media sources, and conducted practice interviews in the WGBH BPL studio. Through our ongoing partnership with Generation Citizen, the teens continue to identify ways to advocate for their chosen causes, as they learn how to effect positive change in their communities.
