Future Readers Club

Albert Einstein once said, “The only thing that you absolutely have to know is the location of the library.” And at the Boston Public Library Fund, we certainly agree.

It’s amazing that our public libraries are everywhere — even in your living room.

Over the past year, BPL Children’s Librarians faced the challenge to launch one of our newest initiatives in early child literacy — the Future Readers Club — in the midst of stay-at-home orders and the closure of the BPL’s Central Library and 25 branches. Nothing, however, could stop this club!

One in three children enters kindergarten without the tools necessary to learn to read. The Future Readers Club works to even that playing field. With BPL story times, an app to track books read, and downloadable books and resources in many languages, your libraries are helping families achieve an exciting goal: to read 1,000 books before kindergarten. Check out the above video to learn how the Future Readers Club is serving our youngest patrons from home!

Support early literacy programs and success for all children with a gift to the BPL Fund.
