Brightening Boylston

Shine your light on the Boston Public Library

dedicate a lamp in the central library's most bustling space

Name a lamp in the contemporary Boylston Street Building of the Central Library by making a tax deductible gift of $7,500, or a commitment payable over three years to the Boston Public Library Fund.

The lamps in the Boylston Street Building (opened in 1972 and renovated in 2016) stand tall on tables used by patrons of all ages and backgrounds to meet, work, learn, and read. Like many aesthetic dimensions of the Boylston Street renovation, they are subtly an evocation of the historic McKim building — in this case in the form of a modern take on the reading lamps in Bates Hall.

Your generous gift to the Boston Public Library Fund, in honor of you or a loved one, helps ensure that the BPL remains active, vibrant, accessible, and bright to all who enter its doors.
